Education Has No End
Since 2019, 11,511 young women have been given a second chance at education through Elimu Haina Mwisho. Delivered across 54 Folk Development Colleges, the program combines secondary studies with vocational training, life skills, and entrepreneurship, with on-campus daycare so young mothers can attend classes.

Football Creates Opportunity
Mpira Fursa uses football as a development methodology across 54 FDCs and 113 primary schools in 24 regions. With 387 girls' teams at primary schools, the program reaches over 10,000 children annually, combining sport with mental health education, gender equality training, and school attendance monitoring.
The Critical Enabler
The ECD program addresses Tanzania's critical shortage of qualified childcare workers by integrating accredited training into FDCs. Currently operating in 15 FDCs with plans to scale to all 55, the program creates a dual benefit: trained professionals and operational daycare centers that enable young mothers in EHM to attend classes.

Recognized by Government
In December 2024, the Government of Tanzania issued a formal press release recognizing Elimu Haina Mwisho, a milestone that transformed a pilot initiative into national education policy.
Policy Influence
KTO's work contributed to the revision of the Education and Training Policy from 2014 to 2023, expanding provisions for alternative education pathways. The 2020 government directive adopted Kiswahili as the language of instruction, a change that aligned with EHM's delivery approach.
ESDC Membership
KTO has been admitted to the Education Sector Development Committee (ESDC), giving the organization a direct voice in national education policy discussions alongside the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
Formal Recognition
December 2024: The Government of Tanzania issued an official press release formally recognizing Elimu Haina Mwisho as a pathway within the national education system, the first program of its kind to achieve this status.
Co-Investment Model
Government funds 100% of teacher salaries, provides 810,000 TZS per student meal subsidy, and waives 250,000 TZS in fees per EHM participant. KTO provides program design, training, and coordination.
Independent Evaluation
A Sida-commissioned independent evaluation confirmed the effectiveness of KTO's programs, validating the model of working through government infrastructure to achieve sustainable, scalable impact.
SRHR Curriculum Integration
All 54 FDC principals unanimously endorsed integrating Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) into the life skills curriculum, with 11,403 participants receiving training in 2024.
The government's recognition of EHM is not the end of the journey. It is proof that when civil society and government invest together in community institutions, the results speak for themselves.
